The Lattice Boltzmann method is used to compute the permeability of FiberForm, a fibrous thermal insulator commonly used as the substrate of thermal protection systems materials. The results are compared to experiment and numerical results that uses another approach. The Lattice Boltzmann approach proves to be as accurate as other computational methods but shows a computational cost that is orders of magnitude smaller.Downloads
