van der Waals materials are materials with strong in-plane covalent bonding and weak interlayer interactions. Due to the two-dimensional nature of these materials and interfaces naturally play a vital role in modifying their properties. This paper explores the electronic properties of twisted van der Waals structures and their promises. It also explores its applications and some key challenges facing 2D vdW layered materials.
