5th Generation Cellular Communication Systems Enabling Technologies and Challenges

Abstract

This work surveys the recent advances and key results and challenges toward the realization of the 5th generation mobile cellular communication systems. The surplus provided by The key enabling technologies for the 5th generation cellular system such as massive MIMO, signal propagations and communications at the millimeter wave band, cellular network densification, network softwarization, and interference mitigation are explicitly highlighted and explained. Furthermore, the main opportunities and the challenges toward the system design and realization are also explained for further research and scientific investigations.
