Abstract

Seaside wind corrosion is a major problem for cars, causing premature rusting and damage to the paintwork and bodywork. This is due to the presence of salt in the air, which is carried by the wind and deposited on the car's surface. When salt and moisture come into contact with metal, they cause an electrochemical reaction that leads to rust. This report seeks to quantify the corrosion risk of living near the seaside. This paper offers a methodology by using Bureau of Meteorology’s wind roses.
