Renovação de Kulumbimbi, um edifício Histórico em Angola

Abstract

This study documentation aims to make the renovation of the Cathedral of Mbanza Kongo built in the XVI century known as Kulumbimbi located in the city of Mbanza Kongo, province of Zaire, Angola. This historical building is found in the ancient political and spiritual capital of The Kingdom of Kongo, Mbanza Kongo, added to UNESCO World Heritage in 2017. There are many controversies regarding the history behind Kulumbimbi which will be discussed in this report. On this renovation work, my objective is to add a new roof for the structure. The report will also include a summary about my country (Angola) and the province where Kulumbimbi is located ie.Zaire. Among the geographical characteristics of the location, I will stress on the relief and the weather, as it is important to have a good understand of the regional climate in order to choose the best materials for the renovation or any construction in general. Getting into the subject matter, it will be covered by: the history around the cathedral, current state of the building, followed by some CAD and 3D drawings. In closing, I will propose the final roof solution for the building and a personal overview of all, what has been here discussed, creating emphasis therefore, in the final renovation of the roof structure.

Esta pesquisa documental tem como objetivo fazer a renovação da Catedral de Mbanza Kongo construída no século XVI conhecida como Kulumbimbi localizada na cidade de Mbanza Kongo, província do Zaire, Angola. Este edifício histórico encontra-se na antiga capital política e espiritual do Reino do Kongo, Mbanza Kongo, adicionada ao Património Mundial da UNESCO em 2017. Existem muitas controvérsias sobre a história por trás de Kulumbimbi que serão discutidas no relatório. Neste trabalho de renovação, o meu objectivo será adicionar uma nova cobertura à estrutura. O relatório também incluirá um resumo sobre o meu país (Angola) e a província onde Kulumbimbi está localizada, ou seja, o Zaire. Dentre as características geográficas do local destaco o relevo e o clima, pois é importante conhecer bem o clima regional para escolher os melhores materiais para a obras de renovação ou qualquer construção em geral. Entrando no tema, será abordado: a história ao redor da catedral, estado atual do edifício, seguido de alguns desenhos CAD e 3D. Para encerrar, irei propor a solução final da cobertura do edifício e uma análise de tudo o que foi aqui discutido, dando ênfase, portanto, à renovação final da estrutura de cobertura.
