This article presents a comprehensive literature review on occupational risks and accidents in high-rise building construction. The construction sector has one of the highest accident rates worldwide, and falls from height remain the leading cause of fatalities. The paper analyzes Brazilian regulatory frameworks (NR-18, NR-35, ABNT standards) in comparison with international references, highlighting unsafe acts, unsafe conditions, process variability, and planning failures as the main contributors to accidents. Practical implications emphasize integrating risk assessment into project management and production planning, improving site organization, worker training, and the use of personal and collective protective equipment. The study contributes to occupational safety research by consolidating evidence on accident causes and proposing strategies for safer construction practices.
